Although he was a friend and an ally, Duterte could not endorse him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat is because I do not promote the \u2018winnables\u2019\u2026 [He] has the machinery,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Duterte also asserted that should Justice Secretary Leila de Lima be adopted by Roxas\u2019 political party, the Liberal Party (LP), as their senatorial candidate, all the more would he not support the interior secretary\u2019s presidential bid.<\/p>\n<p>Grace Poe also did not have Duterte\u2019s endorsement and vote as he had issues with her nationality. We will never know\u2026 If you want Grace, it\u2019s up to you,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Duterte claimed that he would not endorse Binay as well because the Vice President was \u2018difficult to spell.\u2019 He then likened the controversial politician to late President Ferdinand Marcos as both faced corruption allegations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn Marcos\u2019 time, it was only conjugal, Marcos and Imelda. If he (Binay) wins, it will be a basketball team,\u201d he said, referring to several government officials in Binay\u2019s clan.<\/p>\n<p>Not supporting any possible presidential candidate, Duterte clarified that he was not planning on going against any of them as he was not running in the coming elections.<\/p>\n<p>But should De Lima indeed join the senatorial race, the stern mayor noted that he would not only campaign for a rival political party but he would run then.<\/p>\n<p>Teasing the crowd who wanted him to run as president, Duterte hinted that he was a qualified candidate \u00a0as he was a natural-born Filipino and was not hurled with corruption allegations in his more than two decades of public service.<\/p>\n<p>But then again.
