MANILA \u2013 In an interview with the Manila Bulletin, former Senator Panfilo \u201cPing\u201d Lacson declared his interest in running for president or senator in next year\u2019s national elections.<\/p>\n

Considering his low ranking in the presidential preferences surveys, Lacson seemed to prefer joining the senatorial race instead.<\/p>\n

\u201cI need numbers that would put me in a competitive level at least because if you don\u2019t have the numbers, there\u2019s no use\u2026 And I\u2019d rather go back to the Senate if not the presidency,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Should he be elected as the next president, Lacson noted that he would prioritize eradicating corruption as he believed that it was the root of many other problems the country has been facing.<\/p>\n

The former senator would also improve police visibility to fight criminality and implement the rationalization of the allocation of the national budget to local government units (LGUs) for easier funding and spending.<\/p>\n
