MANILA \u2013 \u201c\u2019Pag wala ka nang ratings, hindi ka na bida. Kapag mababa ang ratings mo, iba na ang tingin sa\u2019yo.\u201d (When you no longer have ratings, you\u2019re no longer the star. When your ratings are already low, they look differently at you.)<\/p>\n

These were the words of variety show host Willie Revillame as he shared his sentiments and gave advises to fellow artists during the 15th anniversary celebration of YES! Magazine on Monday.<\/p>\n

Revillame then told them to love themselves first and to prepare for what the future may bring.<\/p>\n

\u201cMahalin n\u2019yo ang sarili n\u2019yo\u2026 Maraming nagmamahal sa iyo sa industriya pero mas mahalin mo ang sarili mo. Kasi, at the end of the day, kapag may sakit ka na dapat may pera ka sa bulsa para hindi tayo nagmumukhang kawawa mga artista, lalapit kung kani-kanino, manghihingi ka ng gamot, pera. Maraming ganyan sa industriya,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

(Love yourselves\u2026 A lot of people in the industry love you but you love yourself more. Because, at the end of the day, when you get sick [and you\u2019ll need money], you\u2019ll have money in your pockets. So that you will not be pathetic artists, asking for help from anyone, asking for medicine, money. There\u2019s a lot of people like that in the industry.)<\/p>\n

\u201cTandaan ninyo, ang industriyang ito, \u2018pag matanda na tayo may bago nang lumalabas,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

(Remember, this industry, when you\u2019re already old, a new [artist] replaces you.)<\/p>\n

Revillame also advised fellow artists not just to rely in the industry as their sole source of income so that when they are no longer offered any project, they will still have money to provide for themselves.<\/p>\n

\u201cSiguro isang lesson sa ating mga artista sa showbiz na \u2018pag nagkakapera ka, properties kaagad, investment kaagad\u2026 I\u2019m so blessed na nung nasa TV5 ako, nakabili ako ng properties sa Tagaytay, not being mayabang\u2026 Bumili ako ng eroplano. During my time in ABS, bumili ako ng yate, hindi ito pagyayabang. I just want to enjoy \u2018yung pinagpapaguran kong pera,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

(Maybe one lesson to us artists in showbiz is that when you have money, immediately [buy] properties and investments\u2026 I\u2019m so blessed that when I was with TV5, I was able to buy properties in Tagaytay, I\u2019m not intending to be boastful\u2026 I bought an airplane. During my time in ABS, I bought a yacht, again, I\u2019m not boasting. I just want to enjoy the money I worked hard for.)<\/p>\n

Revillame gave these statements amid speculations that his weekly show \u201cWowowin\u201d in GMA-7 will be discontinued soon. The show has only aired for about three months now but is said to be replaced by another game show.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
