MANILA \u2013 President Benigno Aquino III on Friday led the inauguration of the Muntinlupa-Cavite Expressway (MCX) which can help the motorists save up to one hour of their travel time.<\/p>\n

Upon arrival, the President drove through the MCX tollbooth plaza to officially open the road by using a toll card to open the toll boom barrier.<\/p>\n

Formerly known as the Daang Hari-South Luzon Expressway Connector road, the MCX is a vital access road that links the rapidly growing Muntinlupa City and Cavite to Metro Manila and the rest of Southern Luzon.<\/p>\n

The MCX is the first toll road project of the Ayala Corporation under the government\u2019s Public-Private Partnership (PPP) program.<\/p>\n

The road is 1.5-kilometer shorter compared to the Daang Hari-Alabang-Zapote route to Makati and 3-km shorter than the Commerce Avenue-Filinvest route to Makati City.<\/p>\n

The Ayala Corporation has invested around Php2.2 billion in the project and will operate and maintain the road for 30 years in partnership with Egis, a toll concession operator from France.<\/p>\n

With an expected volume of approximately 20,000 vehicles per day, the toll rate for the four-kilometer, four-lane road is set at Php17 for Class 1 and Php34 for Class 2 vehicles.<\/p>\n

Ayala Corporation chairman and CEO Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala delivered the welcome remarks while chief operating officer Noel Kintanar gave the project briefing.<\/p>\n
