MANILA — “Wala po akong pinatigil na serbisyo. Ang ipapatigil ko lang ay ang pag aabuso sa katungkulan<\/em>,” acting Makati City Mayor Romulo \u201cKid\u201d Pe\u00f1a said during his first flag-raising ceremony at the Makati City Hall on Monday, July 13.<\/p>\n

(I did not stop any service [for the residents of Makati]. What I stopped is the abuse of power.)<\/p>\n

After 12 days in office as mayor,\u00a0Pe\u00f1a already suspended Makati’s agreements with 670 “sister cities,” started an investigation of “ghost employees” in the local government.<\/p>\n

Pe\u00f1a also vowed to implement reforms\u00a0for the benefit of the people like doubling the pension of senior citizens and changes in the ‘free cake’ program.<\/p>\n

After Mayor Jejomar Erwin ‘JunJun’ Binay was suspended by the Ombudsman over allegations of overpricing in the Makati Science High School,\u00a0Pe\u00f1a served as the acting city mayor.<\/p>\n
