Amado Bagatsing suggested to turn Rizal&#8217;s monument by 180 degrees so that its background will no longer include the condo project of DMCI Homes.<\/p>\n<p>Bagatsing called it a &#8220;win-win solution&#8221; that will allow Torre de Manila to continue\u00a0building.<\/p>\n<p>The building, dubbed as the &#8220;national photobomber&#8221; have been approved by the Manila city government in 2012.<\/p>\n<p>It has built more than 40 floors high when the Supreme Court issued an order to temporarily stop its building following a petition filed by the Knights of Rizal to have the structure demolished.<\/p>\n<p>The National Commission for Culture and the Arts, meanwhile said that it will not accept the proposal.<\/p>\n<p>National Commission for Culture and the Arts legal counsel Trixie Cruz-Angeles said they will not have any of the &#8220;foolish&#8221; proposal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are complaining about DMCI\u2019s Torre de Manila defacing the skyline, so why should we let our national hero face this eyesore?\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf we agree to this compromise, then we will have to alter all our historical shrines and heritage sites to bend to the will of greedy and insensitive corporations.\u201d she added.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MANILA &#8212; Dr. Jose Rizal, the country&#8217;s national hero might just make another sacrifice.
