{"id":54017,"date":"2015-07-01T18:21:33","date_gmt":"2015-07-01T10:21:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/?p=54017"},"modified":"2015-07-01T18:21:33","modified_gmt":"2015-07-01T10:21:33","slug":"cultural-heritage-progress-can-coexist-dmci","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/2015\/07\/01\/cultural-heritage-progress-can-coexist-dmci\/","title":{"rendered":"Cultural heritage, progress can coexist &#8212; DMCI"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_30171\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30171\" style=\"width: 225px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/dmci-torre-de-manila-rizal.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-30171\" src=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/dmci-torre-de-manila-rizal-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"Senate photo\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/dmci-torre-de-manila-rizal-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/dmci-torre-de-manila-rizal.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30171\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Senate photo<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>MANILA &#8212; Developers of Torre de Manila yesterday argued that there is no reason to demolish the condominium building dubbed as the &#8220;national photo bomber&#8221; adding that the building can co-exist with the\u00a0Jose Rizal&#8217;s monument.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCultural heritage and progress can co-exist,\u201d DMCI Homes project development manager Florence Loreto said in a press briefing yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>DMCI also released an artist&#8217;s rendition of a future Manila skyline with several buildings at the back of Jose Rizal&#8217;s monument.<\/p>\n<p>Loreto cited other establishments built along national monuments such as the\u00a0EDSA Shrine in Quezon City,\u00a0the Bantayog ni Bonifacio in Caloocan City,\u00a0the First Rizal Monument in the World in Camarines Norte, the Liwasang Bonifacio in Manila and the Rizal monument in Zamboanga City, among others.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey prove that the past and present can go together, that heritage does not hamper progress,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Besides, Loreto said that the case is common in major cities all over the world\u00a0such as in Jakarta, Amsterdam, Mexico City and Shanghai, among others.<\/p>\n<p>She also added that in terms of complying with necessary rules,\u00a0they \u201chave not violated any laws\u201d and the project was cleared by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe clearance from the NHCP allows us to erect Torre de Manila in that lot. It says that we are not in obstruction (of the view of the Rizal monument).
