{"id":53155,"date":"2015-06-25T22:15:25","date_gmt":"2015-06-25T14:15:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/?p=53155"},"modified":"2015-06-25T22:15:25","modified_gmt":"2015-06-25T14:15:25","slug":"2-tornadoes-touched-down-in-southern-manitoba-no-damage-or-injuries","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/2015\/06\/25\/2-tornadoes-touched-down-in-southern-manitoba-no-damage-or-injuries\/","title":{"rendered":"2 tornadoes touched down in southern Manitoba, no damage or injuries"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/manitou-manitoba.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-53156\" src=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/manitou-manitoba.gif\" alt=\"manitou manitoba\" width=\"400\" height=\"340\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>WINNIPEG &#8212; Environment Canada says two weak tornadoes briefly touched down in southwestern Manitoba.<\/p>\n<p>Meteorologist Terri Lang says there were no reports of severe damage or injuries.<\/p>\n<p>Both twisters came down in fields Wednesday afternoon near Manitou, about 150 kilometres southwest of Winnipeg.<\/p>\n<p>Lang says the tornadoes were fairly weak.<\/p>\n<p>Environment Canada had issued tornado warnings in the area as thunderstorms moved into the southern Red River Valley along the U.S. border.<\/p>\n<p>The federal agency is also investigating reports of a third tornado approximately 10 kilometres south of Treherne.<\/p>\n<p>It received several calls and social media photos about funnel clouds stretching from Pilot Mound to Altona and one northwest of Winnipeg around 8 p.m. that forecasters called minor.<\/p>\n<p>Wednesday&#8217;s storm system also dumped heavy rain over Manitoba&#8217;s escarpment along with hail as big as quarters.<\/p>\n<p>Radar indicated up to 100 millimetres of rain just north of Manitou as thunderstorms parked for more than an hour over the region under tornado warning.<\/p>\n<p>A slow-moving storm parked over Winnipeg for half an hour at 6 p.m. and caused up to 40 mm of rain from downtown northeast into Transcona.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>WINNIPEG &#8212; Environment Canada says two weak tornadoes briefly touched down in southwestern Manitoba.
