CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY \u2013 The army\u2019s 4th Infantry Division here on Tuesday conducts a seminar on how to prevent breast cancer in line with the theme: \u201cA Strong Family, A Strong Philippine Army\u201d.<\/p>\n

Capt. Patrick A. Martinez, the army\u2019s spokesperson, said that the \u201cGift2Life Incorporated,\u201d through the Philippine Army Officer Ladies Club, provided the resource speakers of the seminar.<\/p>\n

He said that the seminar focused on fostering awareness in preventing breast cancer, now considered as one of the world\u2019s deadliest diseases.<\/p>\n

Martinez said that the officers, enlisted personnel, and civilian employees of the army\u2019s 4ID attended breast cancer seminar held at the Division\u2019s Clubhouse at Camp Evangelista in this city.<\/p>\n

One of the resource speakers, Dr. Cristina L. Santos, said that one percent out of 14,000 patients diagnosed with breast cancer in the Philippines in 2014 were males.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is very important that everyone must be aware of the disease,\u201d Santos said.<\/p>\n

Santos also talked about the primary types and causes of breast cancer, especially among men and women.<\/p>\n

The National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) said that the damaged to the cell\u2019s DNA is always the cause of breast cancer, which usually occurs because of genetics and environmental causes.<\/p>\n

However, the NBCF, said that there are “risk factors” that make breast cancer inevitable such as age, race, family history, and personal health history.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
