I just gave what my character required me to do. I didn\u2019t overact. What is happening in real life and what I feel are the things I always bring in my every portrayal,\u201d Dizon said.<\/p>\n<p>Dizon portrayed the role of \u201cRandy\u201d in \u201cMagkakabaung.\u201d His character was a desperate father who accidentally killed his eight-year-old daughter by giving her wrong medicaiton. He then struggled to bury his daughter\u2019s body as well as bury his liability to the crime.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAng balak ko lang talaga ay um-attend&#8230; and to have \u2018selfie\u2019 with the nominees&#8230; I just wanted to have pictures taken with them. Maraming salamat sa mga Manunuri&#8230;,\u201d Valdez said.<\/p>\n<p>(What I really planned was to attend and to \u2018selfie\u2019 with the nominees&#8230; I just wanted to have pictures with them. Thank you to the judges.)<\/p>\n<p>Valdez played the role of \u201cIssey Tolentino\u201d in \u201cDagitab.\u201d Her character was a professor with a lost soul. She later on struggled with a failing marriage and a scandal with a young student.<\/p>\n<p>Best Supporting Actor Martin del Rosario and Best Supporting Actress Gladys Reyes also protrayed roles in Dagitab and Magkakabaung, respectively. They were also first-time Urian winners.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMagkakabaung and Barber\u2019s Tales ay ang dalawa pa lamang sa pelikula na nagtiwala po sa akin, nagbigay sa akin ng pagkakataon, na bukod sa pananakit at pang-aapi sa bida, ay mayroon pa pala akong pwedeng ipakita,\u201d Reyes said in her acceptance speech.<\/p>\n<p>(\u201cMagkakabaung\u201d and \u201cBarber\u2019s Tales\u201d are the two films which believed in me, gave me the chance, that aside from being an antagonist [in other movies and teleseryes], I could also show more.)<\/p>\n<p>Here is a complete list of winners:<\/p>\n<p>Best Director: Lav Diaz, Mula Sa Kung Ano ang Noon<\/p>\n<p>Best Actor: Allen Dizon, Magkakabaung<\/p>\n<p>Best Actress: Eula Valdez, Dagitab<\/p>\n<p>Best Supporting Actor: Martin del Rosario, Dagitab<\/p>\n<p>Best Supporting Actress: Gladys Reyes, Magkakabaung<\/p>\n<p>Best Picture: Mula Sa Kung Ano ang Noon<\/p>\n<p>Best Screenplay: Lav Diaz, Mula Sa Kung Ano ang Noon<\/p>\n<p>Best Production Design: Popo Diaz, Dementia<\/p>\n<p>Best Cinematography: Neil Daza, Bwaya<\/p>\n<p>Best Editing: Lav Diaz, Mula Sa Kung Ano ang Noon<\/p>\n<p>Best Music: Erwin Fajardo, Bwaya<\/p>\n<p>Best Sound: Corinne De San Jose, Violator<\/p>\n<p>Best Documentary: Walang Rape sa Bontok (of Lester Valle and Carla Ocampo)<\/p>\n<p>Best Short Film: Kinabukasan (Adolf Alix Jr.)<\/p>\n<p>Natatanging Gawad Urian (Lifetime Achievement Award): Nora Aunor<\/p>\n<p>The 38th Gawad Urian awards was held last Tuesday and was hosted by Angelica Panganiban, Robi Domingo and Manunuri Butch Francisco.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MANILA \u2013 Several showbiz personalities were beyond greatful for their first-ever Gawad Urian awards.
