MANILA \u2013 According to United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) president and Navotas City Representative Tobias Tiangco, Liberal Party chief strategist and Budget Secretary Florencio Abad discreetly allotted about P581 billion from next year\u2019s national budget to fund Liberal Party\u2019s (LP) election campaigns.<\/p>\n

Tiangco claimed that the administration\u2019s new budgeting approach, which will be freeing up to P581 billion from the regular annual budget, was actually \u2018designed to divert discretionary money into pet projects in an election year to garner votes, not help alleviate poverty and help the poor.\u2019<\/p>\n

Tiangco added that the freed P581 billion could just end up as LP\u2019s budget for their candidates\u2019 nationwide campaigns in next year\u2019s national elections. He believed that the move was under Abad\u2019s initiative, as well as that of his LP allies.<\/p>\n

The lawmaker despised Abad for even bragging about more socio-economic programs incorporated in next year\u2019s national budget.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe oppose the Abad budget just as we opposed the original illegal DAP distributions. The Abad budget is simply \u2018A Bad budget\u2019 and must be stopped in its tracks or the people will suffer,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Abad, for his part, simply dismissed Tiangco\u2019s claims.<\/p>\n
