MANILA \u2013 Aiza Seguerra released his new album \u201cAraw Gabi: Mga Awit ni Maestro Ryan,\u201d a tribute album to renowned composer Ryan Cayabyab under Universal Records.<\/p>\n

\u201cNapaka-special ng album nito kasi binigyan ko ng sarili kong take ang pinakasikat na compositions ni Mr. Ryan Cayabyab\u2026 Ang sarap ka-trabaho niya kasi maski Maestro na siya, he listens to my inputs,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

(This album is really special because I gave my own take on Mr. Ryan Cayabyab\u2019s most famous compositions\u2026 It felt really good working with him because even if he\u2019s a maestro already, he still listens to my inputs.)<\/p>\n

Aiza had always wanted to make a tribute album as two of his favorite songs were written by the composer.<\/p>\n

First was \u201cAraw Gabi,\u201d the carrier single of his album and theme song with wife Liza Di\u00f1o.<\/p>\n

\u201cLike what the song says, it\u2019s very tough to come up with words, let alone write a song, for someone you love\u2026 because you know that whatever you come up with wouldn\u2019t be enough to express how you truly feel,\u201d Aiza said.<\/p>\n

Another was \u201cMinsan ang Minahal ay Ako,\u201d a song which reflected his life, especially during his darkest times in showbiz.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere was a time when I had no work; no one dared to get me for projects\u2026 I\u2019ve been in the business for so long. And despite all the ups and downs, I decided to stay because I love what I do,\u201d Aiza said.<\/p>\n

The album also included \u201cTuwing Umuulan at Kapiling Ka,\u201d How Can I,\u201d \u201cKahit Ika\u2019y Panaginip Lang,\u201d \u201cPaano na Kaya,\u201d \u201cCan This be Love,\u201d \u201cKailan,\u201d \u201cLimang Dipang Tao,\u201d \u201cIduyan Mo,\u201d \u201cMama\u201d and \u201cKay Ganda ng Ating Musika.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 31-year-old singer-composer admitted, however, that doing covers of the maestro\u2019s works were difficult as the original songs were already wonderfully composed and delivered.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis songs are very familiar, but if you get technical about it, like when you are already recording, ang hirap kasi komplikado ang mga notes niya (it\u2019s difficult because his notes are intricate),\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

With that challenge, what Aiza did was to make the songs sound like new, going back to the basics.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll the songs, except \u2018Mama,\u2019 were piano-driven because we felt it was the best way to give the songs the simple and heartfelt treatment they deserve,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe wanted to let the stories behind the songs shine\u2026 The driving force of the album is not me, but the music itself,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
