A stalwart of good governance, he led by example.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Manuel &#8220;Mar&#8221; Roxas II issued this statement to highlight the celebration of the 57th birth anniversary on Wednesday of the late DILG Chief Jesse Robredo.<\/p>\n<p>Noting Robredo&#8217;s dedication and legacy in serving the people, Roxas stressed: &#8220;He was the first to clean the mud after the flood, to respond to a fire tragedy. He made sure money served the people. He was always wary of the trappings of government, and lived with humility, simplicity, and the dignified confidence of the incorruptible.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Robredo remains an example and inspiration to reformists in government.
