(Photo from Muntinlupa PIO)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>MANILA \u2013 Should an earthquake occur in Muntinlupa City, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) warns the city that a disturbance in the atmospheric pressure may cause tsunami-like wave or \u201cseiche\u201d from Laguna de Bay.<\/p>\n<p>A \u201cseiche\u201d is a standing wave in enclosed or partially enclosed bodies of water like bays, gulfs or lakes which occurs after a seismic disturbance.<\/p>\n<p>And with the Laguna de Bay \u2018just on Muntinlupa\u2019s eastern side,\u2019 the possibility that the city may experience a tsunami-like wave should an earthquake hit is not far from happening.<\/p>\n<p>Muntinlupa\u2019s local government, for their part, has already established \u2018fault zones\u2019 where the public are not allowed to reside in. \u00a0They had also been \u2018going to the grassroots and disseminating information to people near Laguna de Bay and the coastline.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Muntinlupa PIO Tez Navarro states that the city has been declared to be \u2018ready for all types of disasters\u2019 since 1999.
