Winnipeg, Manitoba — Prime Minister Stephen Harper today welcomed the news that Benigno Aquino III, President of the Philippines, will visit Canada in early May.<\/p>\n

President Aquino\u2019s bilateral visit to Canada will provide an opportunity for both leaders to reaffirm the close relationship between Canada and the Philippines, based on strong people-to-people ties.<\/p>\n

Discussions between the two leaders will focus on expanding trade and investment, as well as cooperation on a range of issues, including development and countering threats to regional and global security. The two leaders will also meet with members of Canada\u2019s vibrant Filipino community.<\/p>\n
