MANILA — The House should expect the absence of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) in the House deliberations on the proposed Bangsamoro Islamic Law (BBL).<\/p>\n

This is after the group reiterated that they will not attend the ongoing deliberations as it is a “betrayal” of the 1996 final peace agreement entered into by the government with the MNLF.<\/p>\n

A memorandum stating that the MNLF is not interested in participating in the House hearings was already submitted to Iyadf Ameen Madani, secretary-general of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), according to spokesman Absalum Cerveza.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe BBL deals with the same agreement, the same territory and the same people that has been forged in the 1996 peace agreement,\u201d Cerveza said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe BBL hearings are an exercise in futility because eventually it will be declared unconstitutional,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

The said memo was submitted during a meeting in Davao City dated April 17.<\/p>\n

Madani earlier urged rebel groups to support the incorporation of the BBL with the peace agreement.<\/p>\n

He added that the BBL should be considered in the context of other peace agreements that was signed by the government and the MNLF.<\/p>\n

BBL was proposed to create a Bangsamoro territory, a part of the peace agreement between the government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).<\/p>\n
