MANILA — Actress Iza Calzado is now ready to play the role of “Sabel” in a play to be staged at The Theatre in Solaire on April 30.<\/p>\n

In a report for the Philippine Daily Inquirer, Calzado expressed her excitement to perform live on-stage.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut I\u2019m excited, too, because it\u2019s something new, after 13 years in the business,” she said.<\/p>\n

Calzado will be playing the role of Sabel, a character inspired by a scavenger that National Artist for Visual Arts Benedicto “BenCab” Cabrera first photographed and sketched in 1965.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe images of Sabel that I saw in the BenCab Museum in Baguio moved me in a way I still can\u2019t describe.<\/p>\n
