Mar Roxas and PNP OIC Leonardo Espina at the 24th PNP Founding Anniversary (Photo by Toti Navales)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>MANILA \u2013 Police Deputy Director General Leonardo Espina reportedly resigned from his post as officer-in-charge of the Philippine National Police (PNP).<\/p>\n<p>According to at least three unnamed but well-placed sources from the PNP, Espina had already sent his resignation letter to President Benigno Aquino III last March 2015.<\/p>\n<p>President Aquino, however, has yet to accept the resignation.<\/p>\n<p>Last December 2014, Espina became PNP\u2019s officer-in-charge, taking over the leadership\u00a0of former Chief Director Alan Purisima. Espina\u2019s resignation came four months earlier his scheduled retirement in July 2015.
