MANILA — President Benigno S. Aquino III on Wednesday personally inspected major seaports, airports and terminals in preparation for the exodus of travelers during the Holy Week observance.<\/p>\n

President Aquino first inspected the Batangas Port where he checked the terminal passengers and ticket booths of the international port.<\/p>\n

The President also checked a motorized banca docked near the passenger terminal to make sure that even small seacraft are following the safety and security measures being imposed by the Philippine Coast Guard.<\/p>\n

President Aquino was accompanied by Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC) Secretary Joseph Emilio Abaya, ports officials and local officials headed by Governor Vilma Santos.<\/p>\n

From the Batangas Port, President Aquino traveled back to Manila to inspect the three terminals of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Pasay City.<\/p>\n

President Aquino checked security facilities, such as X-ray machines for baggage, check-in counters, the airport\u2019s new lounge, and immigration facilities of the NAIA Terminal 3.<\/p>\n

The President then proceeded to the NAIA Terminal 1 to check the ongoing renovation of the country\u2019s oldest airport terminal.<\/p>\n

Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) General Manager Angel Honrado briefed the President on the situation of airport security and situation of passengers.<\/p>\n

Honrado said the NAIA Terminal 3 rehabilitation is 85 percent complete.<\/p>\n

Aquino is also scheduled to visit bus terminals in Quezon City.<\/p>\n

Since his election in 2010, President Aquino has been inspecting ports, airports and bus terminals every Holy Week.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
