MANILA — It’s that time of the year again.<\/p>\n

The country welcomed a fresh batch of lawyers today, March 26th, as 1,126 out of 5,984 examinees — or 18.82% — passed the 2014 Bar Examinations.<\/p>\n

This year’s passing rate is about 4% lower compared to last year’s, which was 1,174 passers out of 5,292 examinees or a passing rate of 22.18%.<\/p>\n

The 1,126 passers endured four Sundays of examinations — 80% of which were essay-type and 20% multiple choice — covering eight subjects such as Political and Public International Law, Civil Law, Taxation, Mercantile Law,\u00a0Labor and Social Legislation, Criminal Law, Remedial Law and Legal Ethics, and Practical Exercises.<\/p>\n

Here are the top ten Bar passers:<\/p>\n

1. Irene Mae B. Alcobilla (San Beda College) — 85.50%
\n2. Christian A. Drilon (Ateneo De Manila University) — 85.45%
\n3. Sandra Mae T. Magalang (University of the Philippines) — 84.60%
\n4. Mark Leo P. Bejemino (University of the Philippines) — 84.55%
\nGil E. Garcia (Ateneo De Davao University) —\u00a0 84.55%
\nReginald\u00a0 L. Laco (De La Salle Lipa) — 84.55%
\n5. Michelle D. Liao (University of Cebu) — 84.50%
\n6. Jose Angelo A. David (San Beda College-Manila) — 84.45%
\n7. Adrian F. Aumentado (San Beda College-Manila) — 84.35%
\n8. Rhey David S. Daway (University of the Philippines) — 84.20%
