{"id":45424,"date":"2015-03-23T03:48:06","date_gmt":"2015-03-22T19:48:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/?p=45424"},"modified":"2015-03-23T03:48:06","modified_gmt":"2015-03-22T19:48:06","slug":"meralco-opens-for-local-partners-on-1200-mw-atimonan-coal-power-plant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/2015\/03\/23\/meralco-opens-for-local-partners-on-1200-mw-atimonan-coal-power-plant\/","title":{"rendered":"Meralco opens for local partners on 1,200-MW Atimonan coal power plant"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/meralco.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-45200\" src=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/meralco.jpg\" alt=\"meralco\" width=\"600\" height=\"249\" srcset=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/meralco.jpg 349w, https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/meralco-300x125.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>MANILA \u2013 Manila Electric Company (Meralco) Chairman Manny Pangilinan said the company is open for local partners for its 1,200 Megawatt (MW) Atimonan coal power plant.<\/p>\n<p>\u201dIf they\u2019re interested why not,\u201d Pangilinan told reporters.<\/p>\n<p>The coal fired power plant, to be built under M-Powergen Corporation (MGen), is estimated to cost USD 2 billion.<\/p>\n<p>MGen said it will have the majority stake in the company.<\/p>\n<p>However, he revealed that its partner for the Atimonan project will likely be a foreign company.<\/p>\n<p>Pangilinan said Meralco is also open to have partners from Asia for the project.<\/p>\n<p>MGen already has started the pre-qualification process for the Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC), while the processing for the Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC) is also on the way.<\/p>\n<p>Subic based Redondo Peninsula Energy (RP Energy) project, on the other hand, is in the process of getting the commercial term of lease and other concerns approval.
