Beginning Monday, passengers flying via Philippine Airlines (PAL) will be permitted to enter the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2 (NAIA 2) after simply showing the tickets on their electronic devices.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) on Saturday, the \u201cpaperless procedure\u201d is set to be piloted at Terminal 2 for the first time.<\/p>\n<p>Instead of having to show paper documents, passengers flying via PAL can show airport security images of their e-ticket on their smart phones, tablets and laptops.<\/p>\n<p>However, MIAA said that passengers should make it a point that the image should match the one sent by PAL to the passenger\u2019s device when the ticket was purchased.<\/p>\n<p>PAL representatives will be temporarily posted at Terminal 2 entrance to assist passengers and security personnel in applying the new scheme during the initial phase of implementation.<\/p>\n<p>This initiative by PAL is in line with the mandate of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) for its member airlines to eliminate paper documents and move to a completely paperless environment by 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Despite this new scheme, MIAA said that other forms of travel documents, including paper ones, will still be accepted during the initial phase of the project.<\/p>\n<p>These include the traditional paper ticket, the printed itinerary receipt, and the printed e-boarding pass for passengers opting for web check-in.<\/p>\n<p>MIAA, meanwhile, reminded passengers to bring their necessary travel documents such as valid identification cards with photograph and passports for security and check-in requirement.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MANILA &#8212;
