Photo courtesy of DGR Law Offices.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>MANILA &#8212;\u00a0Augusto Syjuco Jr. and other officials of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) now face more charges for the\u00a0\u201cirregular\u201d procurement of P9.25 million worth of career guidance books for school children.<\/p>\n<p>Based on the charges filed by the Office of the Ombudsman,\u00a0250,000 copies of the career guidance book titled\u00a0\u201cSalabat for the Filipino Soul\u201d\u00a0were procured without public bidding.<\/p>\n<p>COA said that\u00a0\u201cthere was irregular expenditure in the procurement for the printing of Salabat\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It further noted, as cited by the Ombudsman, that Tesda was not able to do &#8220;limited source bidding\u201d since the books were not a \u201chighly specialized type of goods.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Syjuco is now facing charges for\u00a0violating Section 3(e) of the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act (Republic Act No. 3019).<\/p>\n<p>BAC chairman Santiago Yabut Jr., vice chair\u00a0Clifford Paragua, members Marjorie Docdocil, Brenda Furagganan and Ma.
