MANILA — Following the “all-out-offensive” launched by the\u00a0Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) against Moro rebels,\u00a0Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte asks:<\/p>\n

\u201dDo you know the cost of war?”<\/p>\n

Duterte posted the question during his speech at the founding anniversary of the Lyceum of \u00a0the Philippines University of Manila.<\/p>\n

He added that he grew up in the area and he understands the people of Mindanao.<\/p>\n

The question was made following the launching of an all out defense against the Moro rebels.<\/p>\n

On earlier reports, the AFP has ordered an intensified operation against the\u00a0Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) and Moro rebels in the southern Philippines.<\/p>\n

Because clash between the government and the rebels continues, thousands of civilians are fleeing from their villages.<\/p>\n
