JOHN&#8217;S, N.L. &#8212; Forecasters in Newfoundland say a blizzard is poised to strike the eastern half of the island Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Up to 40 centimetres of snow is in the forecast for the Avalon Peninsula, which includes St. John&#8217;s.<\/p>\n<p>Between 20 and 30 centimetres of snow is expected to the west in Clarenville, Marystown and Grand Falls-Windsor.<\/p>\n<p>Meteorologist Brian Walsh says another storm is expected to hit western Newfoundland on Friday, bringing 20 centimetres of snow to an area still digging out from back-to-back storms.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, that same storm is bearing down on the Maritimes.<\/p>\n<p>Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Nova Scotia, saying there is considerable uncertainty with the track of the low-pressure system.<\/p>\n<p>However, forecasters say there is potential for significant snowfall and winter storm conditions on Friday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ST.
