{"id":40317,"date":"2015-01-29T23:41:25","date_gmt":"2015-01-29T15:41:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/?p=40317"},"modified":"2015-01-29T23:41:25","modified_gmt":"2015-01-29T15:41:25","slug":"palace-remains-focused-on-bigger-picture-winning-over-terrorism-achieving-peace-in-mindanao","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/2015\/01\/29\/palace-remains-focused-on-bigger-picture-winning-over-terrorism-achieving-peace-in-mindanao\/","title":{"rendered":"Palace remains focused on bigger picture: winning over terrorism, achieving Peace in Mindanao"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_40378\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-40378\" style=\"width: 666px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/sonny-coloma-4.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-40378\" src=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/sonny-coloma-4.jpg\" alt=\"Communications Secretary Sonny Coloma (Photo: Presidential Communications Operation Office)\" width=\"666\" height=\"537\" srcset=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/sonny-coloma-4.jpg 666w, https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/sonny-coloma-4-300x242.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 666px) 100vw, 666px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-40378\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Communications Secretary Sonny Coloma (Photo: Presidential Communications Operation Office)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>MANILA &#8212; Malacanang remains committed to pursue the fight against terrorism and to push for lasting peace in Mindanao, Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Hermnio Coloma said Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>In a briefing, Coloma said they will not dwell on the issues being thrown against them, particularly the death of 44 members of the police\u2019s Special Action Force (SAF).<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Ang pokus po natin ngayon, katulad ng aking ipinarating, ay \u2018yung kahalagahan na maipagwagi natin at maisulong natin \u2018yung paglaban sa terorismo at maipagpatuloy din \u2018yung prosesong pangkapayapaan<\/em> (Our focus now, like what I already said, is the importance of winning against terrorism and to continue the peace process,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Reports said the Philippine National Police (PNP) Alumni Association has called on its members to go on a five-day mass leave while mourning the death of SAF members, who were killed in a \u201cmisencouter\u201d with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) in Mamasapano, Maguindanao over the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Coloma said he respects the PNP Alumni\u2019s decision although he stressed that he does not know if the group\u2019s decision was made before or after President Benigno Aquino III delivered his statement over national television Wednesday night.<\/p>\n<p>He stressed that whether or not the police force will heed the call of its alumi depends on the policemen.<\/p>\n<p>\u201d<em>Nananalig kami na sila ay gagamit ng katuwiran at tamang pagninilay at nauunawaan nila ang kahalagahan ng kanilang paglilingkod sa bayan<\/em> (We believe that they will really think about it and that they understand the importance of their service to the people), he said.<\/p>\n<p>Coloma said it is understandable for people to feel bad about what happened to the SAF members but he stressed that the govenrment should remain focused on the bigger picture.<\/p>\n<p>\u201d<em>Huwag naman nating tawaran \u2018yung kanilang pagsasakripisyo sa pamamagitan ng paglilihis ng atensyon doon sa mga mas mahalagang dapat pagtuunan ng pansin, at ayon nga sa aking pahayag, dalawang bagay \u2018yon: \u2018yung pagsulong ng paglaban sa terorismo at \u2018yung pagkamit ng kapayapaang pangmatagalan<\/em> (Let\u2019s not waste their (SAF members\u2019) sacrifices by bringing the attention away from the important things, which as I earlier said is to fight terrorism and to achieve long-term peace),\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Relatively, the Makabayan-bloc in the House of Representatives said the death of SAF members may lead to another impeachment case against the President.<\/p>\n<p>Coloma said whether the case will be filed or not depends on the lawmakers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Nasa kanila pong pagpapasya \u2018yon kung sila ay nais ding magsulong ng sarili nilang agenda<\/em> (It\u2019s upon their decision if they want to push their own agenda),\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Also, reports said former President Fidel V.
