{"id":3995,"date":"2014-03-11T21:40:23","date_gmt":"2014-03-12T04:40:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/?p=3995"},"modified":"2014-03-11T21:40:23","modified_gmt":"2014-03-12T04:40:23","slug":"body-of-missing-saginaw-spirit-hockey-player-terry-trafford-found-team-says","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/2014\/03\/11\/body-of-missing-saginaw-spirit-hockey-player-terry-trafford-found-team-says\/","title":{"rendered":"Body of missing Saginaw Spirit hockey player Terry Trafford found, team says"},"content":{"rendered":"<hr align=\"left\" width=\"90%\" \/>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4013\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4013\" style=\"width: 266px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Trafford.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-4013\" alt=\"Terry Trafford\" src=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Trafford-266x300.jpg\" width=\"266\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Trafford-266x300.jpg 266w, https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Trafford.jpg 325w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 266px) 100vw, 266px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4013\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Terry Trafford<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>SAGINAW, Mich. &#8211; Officials with the Saginaw Spirit say Michigan State Police have told them that the body of missing minor league hockey player Terry Trafford has been found.<\/p>\n<p>A man&#8217;s body was found Tuesday afternoon in an SUV matching the description of one belonging to Trafford in the parking lot of a Walmart store in Saginaw County&#8217;s Saginaw Township.<\/p>\n<p>Trafford reportedly last was seen about 9:30 a.m. on March 3 at the Dow Event Center, the home arena for the Spirit.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement on the Ontario Hockey League team&#8217;s website, the Spirit offered condolences to Trafford&#8217;s family and his friends in Ontario and Michigan.<\/p>\n<p>Saginaw Spirit president Craig Goslin had said Trafford was sent home prior to his disappearance &#8220;for a violation of rules,&#8221; but said Trafford wasn&#8217;t permanently cut from the team.<\/p>\n<p>At one point in the search, police said they believed Trafford, a centre with the Spirit, might have left the state to return to his hometown of Toronto.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;On behalf of the Spirit we would like to thank the police who were looking for Terry,&#8221; the team said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have reached out to Terry&#8217;s parents and will look to provide them with support over the coming days.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>OHL commissioner David Branch issued a statement expressing condolences to Trafford&#8217;s family and friends, saying it&#8217;s\u00a0 &#8220;a tragic situation for all involved.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He thanked police for their efforts, and said the league will co-operate with any investigations into Trafford&#8217;s death.<\/p>\n<p>The league said Wednesday&#8217;s game between the Spirit and the Sault Ste.
