The Pontiff and President Aquino delivered statements during a general audience of senior government officials and members of the Diplomatic Corps (Photo by the Malaca\u00f1ang Photo Bureau)\" width=\"960\" height=\"607\" srcset=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/pope-francis-manila-2.jpg 960w, https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/pope-francis-manila-2-300x190.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-38764\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Pope Francis (Photo by the Malaca\u00f1ang Photo Bureau)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>MANILA, Philippines \u2013 The three-year-old baby boy who was blessed by Pope Francis at the Meeting of Families at the Mall of Asia Arena passed away on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Brandon Emmanuel Lao succumbed to numerous health ailments on January 23, at 6:44 pm at the St. Luke&#8217;s Medical Center in Quezon City; according to his mother, Gladys Precilla Lao, who spoke to reporters from GMA News.<\/p>\n<p>The baby boy was suffering from a variety of illnesses, such as a hole in his heart, extensive damage to his left lung, as well as pulmonary hypertension.<\/p>\n<p>When Pope Francis blessed the boy at the MOA Arena, Brandon\u2019s lips and extremities were bluish in colour, due to the lack of oxygen carried through his body.
