Restituto Padilla said that the issue reported by the North Carolina-based human rights watchdog Ecumenical Advocacy Network on the Philippines (EANP) is a rehash of a problem that what has long been addressed.<\/p>\n<p>He also clarified that they were not aware of the aid that were put on hold because of the said issues.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are also not aware of any aid that has been put on hold,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Padilla also added that the alliance between the US and the Philippines is a commitment of both the countries\u2019 vow to help each other in the improvement of their security capabilities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Philippines and US defense and military alliance remains strong, with the US affirming its commitment to assist the Armed Forces of the Philippines in its capability development the way the AFP may desire to and in a manner consistent with US laws,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe alliance also remains relevant and cooperation between the two countries has never been this good.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He also revealed that the military is already advancing its measures to successfully promote the human rights advocacy among its ranks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe AFP is among the best in the world that has adopted within its professional military training and education system a consistent and responsive human rights awareness and training regimen,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, when it comes to ending impunity in the country, Commission on Human Rights (CHR) spokesman Marc Titus Cebreros said the country has been improving under President Aquino\u2019s administration.<\/p>\n<p>He, however added that the government has to exert more efforts in ending impunity in the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHowever, the government must do more in terms of ending impunity,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe hope that this development would further convince the administration of President Aquino, along with the security sector, of the need to invest more time and resources on concrete human rights deliverables,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MANILA \u2013 Earlier reports on the alleged $13 million loss of the Armed Forces because of failing to improve its &hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":44,"featured_media":31549,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[95],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-36346","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-news-ph","mauthors-lei-fontamillas","mauthors-philippine-canadian-inquirer"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/36346","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/44"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=36346"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/36346\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/31549"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=36346"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=36346"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=36346"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
