Rex Ramirez, a priest from Palo Archdiocese said that although there will be Italian dishes, majority of the food that will be serve during the lunch meeting will be local delicacies.<\/p>\n<address>\u201c<em>Siguro may pansit, adobo, paksiw na isda, pritong isda, karne at marami pang iba<\/em>\u00a0(Maybe there will be pancit [noodles], adobo, paksiw na isda [fish stew in vinegar], fried fish, meat, and lots of other things),\u201d he said in an interview.<\/address>\n<p>However, the Catholic priest noted that the preparation of the food will have to be consulted with the Vatican, since the pontiff might be allergy to seafood. .<\/p>\n<p>Aside from Filipino food, they are also preparing Italian cuisine for the entourage of the Holy Father.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Ang safe siguro ay isda at baboy pero ang pagka luto wala akong<\/em> idea (The safest choice would probably be fish and pork but I have no idea what the dish will be exactly),\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>On Jan. 17, the pontiff will be in Tacloban and Palo in Leyte, to have lunch with the survivors of super typhoon Yolanda in Tacloban and the 7.2 magnitude earthquake in Bohol.<\/p>\n<p>The priest noted that what the ordinary people will eat, is the same food that Pope Francis will eat, since they will be sitting on the same table.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Alam naman ng nunciature sa Manila ay may instruction naman kung ano kakaninin ng mga tao (The nunciature in Manila has instructions on what the participants will eat)<\/em>,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Ramirez said that the organizers are also planning to serve him \u201clechon\u201d or roasted pig, which is a popular food among Filipinos during special celebration.<\/p>\n<p>However, he is not certain if they will serve a whole lechon or it will be chopped.<\/p>\n<p>The four-day Apostolic and State Visit will begin on Jan. 15 up to Jan. 19, 2015.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MANILA &#8212; Pope Francis will have a chance to taste Filipino cuisine, as organizers are thinking of serving him local &hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":44,"featured_media":35838,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[1482,69,95],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-35772","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-breaking","category-food","category-news-ph","mauthors-ferdinand-g-patinio","mauthors-philippines-news-agency"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/35772","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/44"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=35772"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/35772\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/35838"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=35772"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=35772"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=35772"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
