{"id":3506,"date":"2014-03-05T11:51:49","date_gmt":"2014-03-05T19:51:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/?p=3506"},"modified":"2014-03-05T19:46:43","modified_gmt":"2014-03-06T03:46:43","slug":"former-vernon-b-c-mountie-to-stand-trial-on-child-pornography-allegations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/2014\/03\/05\/former-vernon-b-c-mountie-to-stand-trial-on-child-pornography-allegations\/","title":{"rendered":"Former Vernon, B.C., Mountie to stand trial on child pornography allegations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>VERNON, B.C.\u2014A former RCMP officer in Vernon, B.C., will face child pornography charges.<\/p>\n<p>A provincial court judge in the north Okanagan city has found there is enough evidence to proceed with charges against 35-year-old Ryan Hampton.<\/p>\n<p>He appeared in court Tuesday charged with nine counts including possession of child pornography and obstruction of justice, and will return April 14 to set a date for trial.<\/p>\n<p>Hampton was suspended without pay almost immediately after his arrest last June.<\/p>\n<p>At the time, Chief Supt. Mike Sekela said the force would also hold a formal disciplinary hearing and seek Hampton\u2019s dismissal.<\/p>\n<p>Hampton has since left the RCMP but the circumstances are unclear.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>VERNON, B.C.\u2014A former RCMP officer in Vernon, B.C., will face child pornography charges.
