MANILA\u00a0—\u00a0Forecaster Jori Loiz of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said that tropical storm \u201cRuby\u201d is expected to make landfall in Laiya, Batangas province around 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday.<\/p>\n

At present, Loiz said tropical storm “Ruby” is traversing the sea in the island province of Marinduque headed towards Batangas.<\/p>\n

He said still expected are storm surges once tropical storm Ruby makes landfall and also in areas under public storm warning signals Nos. 3 and no. 2.<\/p>\n

Loiz said once it makes landfall, expect Ruby\u2019s maximum wind strength to decrease due to its interaction with landmass.<\/p>\n

In another interview, PAGASA weather forecaster Alvin Pura said that tropical storm “Ruby” may bring heavy to intense rains in Metro Manila and nearby provinces as the tropical storm makes a landfall in Batangas.<\/p>\n

He advised the public to take precautions from early evening Monday until Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, PAGASA said Orange Rainfall Warning (heavy to intense) was issued at 3 p.m. Monday in Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon provinces).<\/p>\n

The orange rainfall advisory, the second in PAGASA’s three-stage rainfall warning system, is raised in areas where rainfall is expected between 15 mm and 30 mm within one hour.<\/p>\n

Flooding is a definite threat in communities under the orange alert.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, yellow rainfall warning was issued for Metro Manila and the provinces of Bataan, Pampanga, Nueva Ecija and Bulacan wherein residents are advised to take precautionary measures.<\/p>\n

A yellow rainfall advisory is raised when the expected rainfall amount is between 7.5 mm and 15 mm within one hour and likely to continue.<\/p>\n

Communities given this advisory are advised to be aware of the weather condition and warned that flooding may be possible in low-lying areas.<\/p>\n

PAGASA said Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils in these areas are advised to monitor the weather condition and watch for the next advisory to be issued at 6:00 p.m. Monday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
