Ferdinand &#8216;Bongbong&#8217; Marcos being interviewed at the Senate of the Philippines (Facebook photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>MANILA &#8212; Senator Ferdinand \u201cBongbong\u201d Marcos Jr. said on Thursday that it is about time to end his family\u2019s decade-old feud with the Aquinos.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement during an interview with radio DWIZ, Marcos said that both the families\u2019 reconciliation will be beneficial for the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s something that would be good for the country. Kasi alam naman natin itong away na ito na hanggang ngayon ay tuluy-tuloy pa. Ito\u2019y sagabal sa pagkakaisa dito sa bansa. Kailangan we have to get past it\u2026put it behind us. Ang daming kailangang gawin,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>(That\u2019s something that would be good for the country. We all know that this feud continues up to now. This prevents us from uniting the country. We have to get past it\u2026put it behind us. There are so many things we need to do.)<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI mean siguro sa pamilya Marcos, wala na \u2018yung political fight na yan. Hindi naman ito personal. \u2018Yung talagang naglalaban was my father and Ninoy Aquino, \u201860s, \u201870s pa \u2018yun so dapat lampasan na natin \u2018yun at hindi na \u2018yan ang issue ngayon. Wala tayong makukuha sa tuluy-tuloy na pagsusumbatan na Aquino-Marcos for no good reason. We\u2019ll get nothing out of that,\u201d Marcos said.<\/p>\n<p>(I mean, for the Marcos family, this political feud is already over. It\u2019s not personal. It was only my father and Ninoy Aquino who fought in the \u201860s and \u201870s so we should get past it already and stop making an issue out of it. We won\u2019t gain anything from continuing to revive the Aquino-Marcos feud for no reason. We\u2019ll get nothing out of that.)<\/p>\n<p>Marcos was pertaining to Senator Benigno Aquino Jr., father of now President Aquino, who was assassinated upon his return to Manila from a three-year self-imposed exile in the United States in 1983.<\/p>\n<p>His death paved the way for the first People Power revolt in 1986 which ended the dictatorship of the President Ferdinand Marcos.<\/p>\n<p>Marcos, however said that the unfortunate event happened in the past, something that should no longer be revived.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have to unify the country and the country to be unified has to move forward,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHindi tayo pwedeng paulit-ulit, na balik nang balk for 35 years ago kung\u00a0 anong nangyari du\u2019n. Alam na nating lahat kung anong nangyari 35 years ago, gawan natin ng paraan kung ano ang mangyayari ngayon,\u201d the senator added.<\/p>\n<p>(We can\u2019t revive this over and over again\u2014going back to 35 years ago and what happened then. We all know what happened 35 years ago.
