Photo courtesy of issue.ph.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>MANILA \u2013 With the possibility of facing an impeachment complaint in the next months, Vice President Jejomar Binay reminded the senate of their role as potential judges in an impeachment trial.<\/p>\n<p>Questioning the Senate\u2019s \u201cpower to expose,\u201d Binay said in an affidavit submitted to the Blue Ribbon committee that he was indicted for a \u201ccriminal wrongdoing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Binay also denied allegations that he was involved in the allegedly overpriced construction of the P2.28 billion Makati City Hall Building II.<\/p>\n<p>He added that suppose the allegations were true, the Commission on Audit (COA) should have issued a notice of disallowance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe hearing has veered toward false criminal accusations against me. It must be emphasized that the Senate shall constitute [itself] as the impeachment court in case the House of Representatives [impeaches me],\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTherefore, the senators are unmindful of their role as potential [judges.
