MOSCOW\u2014The coach of Russian Premier League team FC Rostov said Friday he will not sign black players and joked that Ebola had spread to the club.<\/p>\n

Igor Gamula told local media the club had \u201cenough dark-skinned players, we\u2019ve got six of the things\u201d when asked in a post-match news conference Friday about rumours Rostov would sign Cameroon defender Benoit Angbwa.<\/p>\n

Gamula also said that five of his Russian players were ill with a high temperature and joked that the Ebola epidemic was the cause.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m already worrying it\u2019s Ebola,\u201d he said, before adding that the reference to the disease was \u201ca joke, obviously.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rostov midfielder Moussa Doumbia is from Mali, which has seen sporadic Ebola cases. He played for Gamula\u2019s team in Friday\u2019s 1-0 win over Ural Yekaterinburg.<\/p>\n

Gamula, 54, took over in September at Rostov, which won the Russian Cup last season and has played in this season\u2019s Europa League.<\/p>\n

Known for making inflammatory comments, earlier this month he was cleared by the Russian Football Union of a disciplinary charge relating to a TV interview in which he shouted at a journalist and criticized a referee.<\/p>\n

Rostov is struggling in 14th place in the 16-team Russian league and Friday\u2019s win was Gamula\u2019s first in four games with the club.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
