{"id":28614,"date":"2014-10-11T14:56:59","date_gmt":"2014-10-11T06:56:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/?p=28614"},"modified":"2014-11-20T00:26:04","modified_gmt":"2014-11-19T16:26:04","slug":"fdis-hit-record-high-in-july","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/2014\/10\/11\/fdis-hit-record-high-in-july\/","title":{"rendered":"FDIs hit record high in July"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_11745\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-11745\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/global-economy.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-11745\" src=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/global-economy-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"ShutterStock image\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/global-economy-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/global-economy.jpg 1000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-11745\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">ShutterStock image<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>MANILA \u2013 Foreign direct investments (FDIs) rose to a record high as the country continues to attract more capital from abroad, according to the central bank.<\/p>\n<p>A net inflow in FDI reaching a total of $436 million in July allowed the country to remain as the strongest performer in Southeast Asia.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis reflected continued favorable sentiment on the Philippine economy on the back of the country\u2019s strong macroeconomic fundamentals,\u201d the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>FDI level rose to $4.01 billion, a figure higher than the $2.57 billion recorded in the same seven-month period of 2013, year-to-date.<\/p>\n<p>Foreign direct investments are generated from multinational companies\u2019 reinvested earnings in the country which is translated into the construction of new manufacturing and service facilities.<\/p>\n<p>The investment directly contributes to job generation, therefore affecting the employment status of the country.<\/p>\n<p>A data from the BSP indicated that the investment increase was observed across the board with the net equity capital surging by more than tenfold at $104 million.<\/p>\n<p>This figure is higher than the $10 million in the same month last year.<\/p>\n<p>The net inflows of equity capital also increased on back of the 87.8-percent year-on-year increase in equity capital placements to $120 million.<\/p>\n<p>Most of the equity capital investments in the said period were generated largely from the United States, Sweden, the Netherlands, Taiwan and Switzerland.<\/p>\n<p>These investments were mainly channelled to financial and insurance;
