(<a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/castle_life\/6130697412\/in\/photolist-akKqKw-ayysTi-9ezewb-4oA2RL-8Jy3hX-9SUYXE-o6GNqp-fCYnbn-acCA6j-G8Rak-6LJR4e-5yBFYF-9ew87p-53ogmi-7GZENX-7GZEoi-f7cCiC-6efU1x-7GZB2z-aXPzVz-9SS9Sn-qpsSNV-b4yzRz-9hxwV3-fD6DPw-auLQLX-9LzCmw-f7cBHd-dGQuK9-4YwxVP-pipvNk-4YDuAH-72Qq3g-6YQC1a-akL45u-oYPGyP-am9ece-yMN2L-bFjE3R-72Utf9-7H4wEN-oFt77W-7G1gnp-93LNbP-6c1tx-4RUvMe-bJz9XB-5eMumr-4tetNG-mbtJnM\">File Photo:<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/creativecommons.org\/licenses\/by\/2.0\/\">Barry Pousman\/ Flickr, <span class=\"cc-license-identifier\">CC BY 2.0<\/span><\/a>)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>MANILA<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 The Department of Education (DepEd) will select the schools included in the pilot implementation or dry run of face-to-face classes (F2F) in areas with low risk of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) by Dec. 28, Malaca\u00f1ang said Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>During the 49th Cabinet meeting on Monday night, President Rodrigo Duterte approved the dry run of F2F classes in select schools with low Covid-19 risk for the whole month of January 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said Duterte approved the pilot implementation knowing that the current blended and distance learning scheme is \u201cfar from ideal\u201d especially in areas with little or no access to computers and the internet.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cKasi alam natin na talagang itong ginagawa nating<\/em>\u00a0blended learning is far from ideal\u00a0<em>at ang<\/em>\u00a0ideal\u00a0<em>pa rin<\/em>\u00a0talaga is face-to-face so we\u2019re trying to see if we can live with the virus\u00a0<em>at malalaman po natin kung pupuwede nga lalo na dun sa mga areas na wala namang<\/em>\u00a0Covid<em>\u00a0na<\/em>\u00a0(Because we know the current blended learning scheme is far from ideal and the most ideal is face-to-face so we\u2019re trying to see if we can live with the virus and we will find out if it can be done especially in areas with no Covid-19),\u201d Roque said in a Palace press briefing.<\/p>\n<p>Roque said the timeline for the dry run of F2F classes is as follows:<\/p>\n<p>\u2014Dec. 14-18, 2020 &#8211; Submission by regional directors to the Secretary, through the Undersecretary for Field Operations, of nominated schools for pilot implementation or dry-run.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014Dec. 28, 2020 &#8211; Selection by the Secretary of pilot schools from among the nominated schools.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014Jan. 4-8, 2021 &#8211; Orientation, mobilization, and readiness confirmation of selected pilot schools.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014Jan. 11-23, 2021 &#8211; Implementation of pilot activities, including joint monitoring by DepEd and the Covid-19 National Task Force.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014Jan. 25-29, 2021 &#8211; Submission of regional reports on the pilot implementation; evaluation for the final recommendation to the President.<\/p>\n<p>Roque, meanwhile, reminded the public that F2F classes will not be compulsory.<\/p>\n<p>He said submission of a parent&#8217;s permit for the student to participate in face-to-face classes will be required.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cPilot lang po ito, ito\u2019y isang buwan lamang. Wala po\u2019ng pilitan, boluntaryo po ito. Kinakailangan mayroong<\/em>\u00a0approval\u00a0<em>ng mga magulang at bukod po dito, dapat papayag din po ang<\/em>\u00a0LGU.\u00a0<em>Kung ayaw ng<\/em>\u00a0LGU,\u00a0<em>hindi po natin ipipilit itong pilot<\/em>\u00a0face-to-face (This is only a pilot test and it will only run for one month. Nobody will be forced, this is voluntary. There should be approval from parents and besides this, the local government unit should also approve.
