MANILA<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0Magat Dam will unlikely resume releasing excess water this weekend even if the northeast monsoon or “amihan” is affecting northern Luzon.<\/p>\n

Expected rain may not yet increase Magat water enough to warrant spilling operation’s resumption, Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) hydrologist Aileen Abelardo said.<\/p>\n

“We’re anticipating isolated light rain only,” she said.<\/p>\n

There is still no weather system that can bring much rain over Magat area, she said.<\/p>\n

PAGASA said Magat Dam’s 6 a.m. water level on Friday was at 190.07 meters, about 2.93 meters below the spilling or normal high water level.<\/p>\n

This week, the weather bureau spotted a low pressure area (LPA) in southern Luzon.<\/p>\n

The LPA moved westward and was 250 km west of Zambales province’s Subic municipality as of 3 a.m. Friday, PAGASA noted.<\/p>\n

According to PAGASA, the LPA dissipated at 8 a.m. Friday and is no longer affecting the country.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
