Kazmierski \/ Shutterstock.com.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>LONDON\u2014It wasn\u2019t a car crash, but there weren\u2019t fireworks, either.<\/p>\n<p>Critics have given a lukewarm welcome to Lindsay Lohan\u2019s professional stage debut, which followed months of hype and speculation about whether the wayward star was up to the job.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShock news: Lindsay Lohan can act a bit,\u201d wrote Dominic Maxwell in The Times newspaper after the opening night of David Mamet\u2019s Hollywood satire \u201cSpeed-the Plow.\u201d The Guardian\u2019s Michael Billington called Lohan\u2019s performance \u201cperfectly creditable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lohan plays the pivotal role of Karen, an office temp whose naivety throws the plans of two ambitious producers into chaos.<\/p>\n<p>Not everyone was impressed.
