(File <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/DILGBFP\/photos\/1884771148341626\">Photo:<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/DILGBFP\/\">Bureau of Fire Protection\/Facebook<\/a>)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>MANILA<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 The House of Representatives on Monday approved on final reading a bill seeking to strengthen and modernize the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), which is a legislative priority of President Rodrigo Duterte.<\/p>\n<p>With 223 affirmative votes, zero negative votes, and no abstention, the lower chamber passed House Bill 7406, otherwise known as the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Modernization Act.<\/p>\n<p>The bill mandates the establishment and implementation of a Fire Protection Modernization Program with the following components: fire protection service, force restructuring and organizational development, capability, material, and technology development, specialized services development, and human resource development.<\/p>\n<p>The fire protection service shall be established in all local government units and a single platform of emergency hotline shall be created and integrated with the 911 hotline program of the Department of the Interior and Local Government.<\/p>\n<p>The force restructuring and organizational development aim to develop the BFP into a compact, efficient, responsible, and modern firefighting force through a revised organizational structure and qualifications upgrading program.<\/p>\n<p>The modernization program shall also include the acquisition of new and more modern equipment; establishment of specialized fire protection services for high-rise building fires, forest fires, airport fires, ship fires, chemical fires, and the like; and the continuing training of BFP personnel.<\/p>\n<p>Additional functions for the BFP were listed in the proposed law, including the conduct of monthly fire prevention campaigns and information drive in all LGUs, and the issuance of a fire safety evaluation clearance as a prerequisite for the issuance of a building permit, among others.<em><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MANILA\u00a0\u2013 The House of Representatives on Monday approved on final reading a bill seeking to strengthen and modernize the Bureau &hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":33,"featured_media":276380,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[16,95],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-276379","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-news","category-news-ph","mauthors-filane-mikee-cervantes","mauthors-philippine-news-agency"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/276379","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/33"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=276379"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/276379\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":276381,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/276379\/revisions\/276381"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/276380"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=276379"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=276379"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=276379"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
