ALBERTO ALCAIN\/ PRESIDENTIAL PHOTO<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>MANILA<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 President Rodrigo Duterte has offered a reward of PHP50,000 or PHP100,000 to anyone who could give him information on government officials engaged in corrupt activities.<\/p>\n<p>In a taped public address aired Tuesday night, Duterte urged anyone to report anomalies within the government and they would receive a cash \u201cprize.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cPakiusapan ko na lang \u2018yung lahat. Kayong walang mga trabaho, kayong mga<\/em>\u00a0casual<em>\u00a0ilang taon na.<\/em>\u00a0All you have to do is to let me know and may prize\u00a0<em>ako<\/em>\u00a0(I\u2019ll just make a request. To you, who have no jobs, who have been casual employees for how many years now. All you have to do is to let me know and I\u2019ll give you a prize),\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Duterte was referring to \u201cghost projects\u201d at the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), which he previously tagged as among the \u201cmost corrupt.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cPagka mayroon kang malaki, if it\u2019s a malaking sindikato,<\/em>\u00a0ghost project<em>\u00a0ni<\/em>\u00a0director\u00a0<em>p***** i**,<\/em>\u00a0I will give you PHP50,000.\u00a0<em>Ibulong mo lang, maski sino<\/em>\u00a0(If you catch a big syndicate, a ghost project of a director, I will give you PHP50,000. Just whisper it to me, whoever it is),\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cHuwag kang magbigay ng pangalan. \u2018Pag na ano namin na totoo, bantayan lang namin.<\/em>\u00a0Then I will allow it to ripen to a crime.\u00a0<em>Pagkatapos, kami na ang bibira<\/em>\u00a0(No need to give names. If we find out it\u2019s true, we\u2019ll wait. Then I will allow it to ripen to a crime. Afterwards, we will take care of it).\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The President vowed to keep the names of the informers anonymous for their safety and protection.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cIbulong mo lang na niluluto \u2018yan<\/em>\u00a0(Just whisper to me if they\u2019re cooking up something), I\u2019ll give you PHP100,000 and I will keep your identity secret until I reach my grave.\u00a0<em>Hindi ko kayo bubukuhin, hindi ko kayo ipapasubo<\/em>\u00a0(I will not divulge your identities. I will not put you in a tight spot),\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Duterte also encouraged them to inform him if they were being harassed or threatened.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cAt kung nalaman kayo, tapos hina-harass kayo, paalamin mo ako<\/em>\u00a0(And if they find out who you are and harass you, let me know). I will deal with the devil.\u00a0<em>Kaya kung inaano ka, tinatakot ka, paalamin mo ako<\/em>\u00a0(If they\u2019re threatening you, let me know) I would be happy to make you happy. Okay?\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Before making his offer, Duterte read out several names of government workers facing corruption allegations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Sa<\/em>\u00a0corruption,<em>\u00a0sinasabi ko naman sa inyo na galit ako talaga<\/em>\u00a0(When it comes to corruption, I told you it makes me furious) and I will not only investigate you. I will expose you to the public\u00a0<em>para malaman ng tao na niloko ninyo iyong gobyerno<\/em>\u00a0(so people would know that you\u2019re fooling the government),\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The named personnel were reportedly from the DPWH, Bureau of Immigration, and Local Water Utilities Administration.<\/p>\n<p>Duterte said not only would administrative charges be filed against the alleged corrupt personnel but criminal charges as well.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cItong mga<\/em>\u00a0(These charges for) dishonesty, grave misconduct, conduct unbecoming of a public official,\u00a0<em>ito<\/em>\u00a0administrative<em>\u00a0lang \u2018to. Sa opisina ninyo, matanggal ka sa trabaho, suspendido ka<\/em>\u00a0(these are just administrative charges.
