(PIA Iligan)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>MANILA<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 President Rodrigo Duterte has designated national policy against coronavirus disease (Covid-19) chief implementer Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. as \u201cvaccine czar\u201d to ensure that the Philippines has access to a potential Covid-19 vaccine once available.<\/p>\n<p>In a Cabinet meeting on Monday, Duterte said he wanted Galvez to be the sole person in charge of the purchase of vaccines.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cPagbili ng bakuna<\/em>\u00a0(In the purchase of the vaccine), the negotiation, manufacture, production, or distribution,\u00a0<em>binigay ko yan kay<\/em>\u00a0(I gave it to) Secretary Galvez. So only Secretary Galvez is authorized to negotiate or whatever,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He turned down the idea of having to form a committee in charge of vaccine procurement as it might lead to further delays.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cAyaw ko yang<\/em>\u00a0committee-committee.\u00a0<em>Matagal yan<\/em>\u00a0(I don\u2019t want to have to create a committee.
