UNDP in the Philippines,&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Posted by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/undp.ph\/\">UNDP Philippines<\/a> on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/undp.ph\/posts\/3458331530888797\">Thursday, October 29, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>MANILA<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 The United Nations Development Programme\u2019s (UNDP) newly appointed representative to the Philippines, Selva Ramachandran, presented his letter of credence to Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>During their virtual meeting, Locsin recognized UNDP\u2019s work in complementing the Philippine government\u2019s response and recovery work in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).<\/p>\n<p>He also extended his gratitude for UNDP\u2019s assistance to the government in the capture and analysis of data for well-informed policy and decision-making in response to the pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>In turn, Ramachandran reiterated UNDP\u2019s steadfast commitment to supporting Manila in effectively managing the pandemic and laying the foundations for an inclusive recovery by building capacity for anticipatory governance and resilience, especially in geographically-isolated and disadvantaged areas.<\/p>\n<p>He also highlighted the importance of digitalization and green solutions in achieving UN Sustainable Development Goals.<\/p>\n<p>Ramachandran, a Malaysian national, is a seasoned development practitioner with more than 27 years in the development sector.<\/p>\n<p>Before his new appointment, he served as resident representative and country director of UNDP Sudan from 2015 to 2020.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fb-post\" data-href=\"https:\/\/web.facebook.com\/undp.ph\/posts\/3458701310851819\" data-show-text=\"true\" data-width=\"\">\n<blockquote class=\"fb-xfbml-parse-ignore\" cite=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/undp.ph\/posts\/3458701310851819\"><p>&#x1f4e3;
