(Photo by Benjamin Pulta)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>MANILA<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Department of Justice (DOJ) Undersecretary Markk Perete on Thursday has resigned from his position.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter much thought, I have decided to submit my resignation from the DOJ effective today due to serious reasons,\u201d Perete said in a message to newsmen. He, however, declined to elaborate.<\/p>\n<p>Perete was named as Justice undersecretary by President Rodrigo Duterte in July 2018 and was later designated by Secretary Menardo Guevarra as the agency&#8217;s spokesperson.<\/p>\n<p>Perete graduated from the University of the Philippines (UP) College of Law in 2006.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to his appointment at the DOJ, he served as a technical assistant, with the rank of assistant secretary, for legal affairs at the Office of the President.<\/p>\n<p>Upon the recommendation of Guevarra, Perete was then appointed DOJ Undersecretary along with former Democratic Independent Workers\u2019 Association (DIWA) party-list Rep.
