Canada is waiving biometrics requirements for permanent residence applicants who submitted biometrics in the last 10 years.
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

Canada no longer requires permanent residence applicants to\u00a0<\/span>provide\u00a0<\/span>their biometric information\u00a0<\/span>as long as<\/span>\u00a0they have submitted their\u00a0<\/span>biometrics in another application within the last ten years.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has\u00a0<\/span>previously\u00a0<\/span>taken special measures<\/a>\u00a0due to the coronavirus pandemic<\/span>\u00a0such as allowing delays for biometric submission<\/span>s<\/span>\u00a0if applicants are unable to submit them.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It is unknown as to when many of the biometric collection service points in Canada and abroad will continue their operations as normal.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

These closures of service points and Visa Application\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Centres<\/span><\/span>\u00a0(VACs) have affected thousands of permanent residence applicants.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Many of these applicants had previously submitted their biometrics in a previous application.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition,\u00a0<\/span>IRCC said in a statement that Canada has a growing number of applications for permanent residence that cannot be processed because of the biometric<\/span>s<\/span>\u00a0requirement.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As such, IRCC aims to alleviate further disruptions on such individuals by waiving the biometrics requirement in certain cases.<\/p>\n

Eligible applicants and effective date<\/h2>\n

According to IRCC<\/a>, this policy came into effect on September 10, 2020 and was operationalized on September 22, 2020. It will remain in effect indefinitely.<\/p>\n

Eligible applicants who are exempt from biometrics collection requirements irrespective of whether they are currently in Canada or overseas are those with both of the following:<\/p>\n
