{"id":26881,"date":"2014-09-26T09:32:08","date_gmt":"2014-09-26T01:32:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/?p=26881"},"modified":"2014-09-26T22:34:51","modified_gmt":"2014-09-26T14:34:51","slug":"binay-dummies-run-firms-new-witness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/2014\/09\/26\/binay-dummies-run-firms-new-witness\/","title":{"rendered":"Binay dummies run firms \u2013 new witness"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_24487\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-24487\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Jejomar-Binay.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-24487\" src=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Jejomar-Binay-300x266.jpg\" alt=\"Vice President Jejomar Binay (Facebook photo)\" width=\"300\" height=\"266\" srcset=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Jejomar-Binay-300x266.jpg 300w, https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Jejomar-Binay-600x533.jpg 600w, https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Jejomar-Binay.jpg 960w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-24487\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Vice President Jejomar Binay (Facebook photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>MANILA \u2013 A business man revealed during a senate investigation that he served as a dummy for Vice President Jejomar Binay during his term as Makati City\u2019s mayor.<\/p>\n<p>Jose Orillaza, former president of Omni Security Investigation and General Services, testified during the Senate blue ribbon subcommittee investigation of the alleged corruption in the Makati city government during Binay\u2019s term.<\/p>\n<p>Orillaza said that he served as a dummy in a security and janitorial services company that won contracts with the Makati City government.<\/p>\n<p>He also revealed that Gerardo \u201cGerry\u201d Limlingan, Binay\u2019s longtime aide had work at the company, though his name did not appear in the company\u2019s incorporation papers.<\/p>\n<p>Orillaza was not among the list of witnesses scheduled to testify in the hearing but he was mentioned by former Vice Mayor Ernesto Mercado as one of the dummies aiding Binay in concealing his assets.<\/p>\n<p>Mercado also mentioned the name of Limlingan as one of the fronts whom Binay used in hiding his assets<\/p>\n<p>Among the properties reported to be owned and hidden by Binay is the 8,877-square-meter lot in Barangay (village) Comembo in Makati with a current market value estimated by Mercado to be more than P1 billion.<\/p>\n<p>Binay, however, denied that he owns the property.<\/p>\n<p>In a financial disclosure and income tax returns released by Binay, his net worth was only at P60 million at the end of 2013.<\/p>\n<p>Binay\u2019s spokesman, Cavite Gov. Jonvic Remulla, also denied that Binay had no dummy corporations or investments under other people\u2019s names.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is for Mercado to have,\u201d Remulla said.<\/p>\n<p>Orillaza, however said that the reason why he accepted Limlingan\u2019s participation is because Binay was part of the corporation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was with us in the corporation \u2026 Mayor Binay,\u201d Orillaza said. \u201cIt was an internal agreement between us right from the start.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Orillaza also admitted that he was indeed Binay\u2019s dummy when asked by Sen.
