(File <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/DepartmentOfEducation.PH\/photos\/a.380071542052546\/3397737330285937\/?type=3&amp;amp;theater\">photo:<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/DepartmentOfEducation.PH\/\">DepEd Philippines\/Facebook<\/a>)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>MANILA<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Education Secretary Leonor Briones reported on Monday that the migration of learners from private schools to public schools has stopped in the past two weeks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMigration to public schools topped at 398,930 and it has not moved already in the past two weeks, this number,\u201d Briones said during a virtual media briefing.<\/p>\n<p>Of the total number, about 244,123 are elementary pupils, 106,143 are junior high school students, 42,067 are senior high school students, and 6,597 are learners with disabilities.<\/p>\n<p>Citing that various sectors of the economy are gradually opening up, Briones reported a \u201csignificant movement in the enrollment of private school students&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve started with 0.36 percent private school enrollment last June, and, now we have 47.353 percent of enrollees coming from the private sector. We started with 7,000 enrollees from last June, now we have 2,080,680 enrollees from the various public schools,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>As per the latest data from the Department of Education (DepEd), about 22,314,572 students have enrolled in public schools.<\/p>\n<p>In total, about 24, 448,014 learners have enrolled in public and private schools nationwide.<\/p>\n<p>Region 4-A (Calabarzon) logged the highest number of enrollees with 3,370,817, and the Cordillera Administrative Region with the lowest at 397,612.<\/p>\n<p>The enrollees were from kindergarten to senior high school, as well as learners with disabilities and those taking the alternative learning system.<\/p>\n<p>Briones also reported that the number of enrollees in the DepEd\u2019s Alternative Learning System has climbed to 382,383 from 32,851 last June.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith all these movements, sill we haven\u2019t stopped monitoring and encouraging our learners to enroll.
