(Pixabay photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>NEW YORK<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 The total number of Covid-19 cases in the United States surpassed 6.5 million on Sunday, according to the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University.<\/p>\n<p>The US case count rose to 6,501,904, with the national death toll reaching 193,843 as of 1:26 p.m. local time (1726 GMT), according to the CSSE.<\/p>\n<p>The hardest-hit US state of California reported 759,437 cases.
