(PNA file photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>MANILA<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Authorities are currently discussing preparations for the impending deportation of US Marine Lance Cpl. Joseph Scott Pemberton, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBI agents are conducting a coordination meeting now in Camp Aguinaldo to discuss logistical preparations for Pemberton&#8217;s deportation,\u201d BI spokesperson Dana Sandoval said in a Viber message.<\/p>\n<p>Sandoval said there is no information yet as to the flight schedule of the American serviceman.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI haven&#8217;t received flight details yet, would have to verify on the ground. From what I understand, arrangements are not yet final,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday, the BI took over Pemberton&#8217;s custody from the Bureau of Corrections.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, President Rodrigo Duterte granted Pemberton absolute pardon.<\/p>\n<p>Pemberton would be deported after BI&#8217;s board of commissioners issued a deportation order against him in September 2015 for being an undesirable alien.<\/p>\n<p>In 2015, he was convicted of homicide for the killing of transgender Jennifer Laude and was sentenced to six to 10 years in prison.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MANILA\u00a0\u2013 Authorities are currently discussing preparations for the impending deportation of US Marine Lance Cpl.
