{"id":267528,"date":"2020-09-03T06:48:46","date_gmt":"2020-09-03T10:48:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/?p=267528"},"modified":"2020-09-03T06:48:46","modified_gmt":"2020-09-03T10:48:46","slug":"filipino-band-benben-delights-k-pop-fans-anew-with-new-covers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/2020\/09\/03\/filipino-band-benben-delights-k-pop-fans-anew-with-new-covers\/","title":{"rendered":"Filipino band Ben&amp;Ben delights K-pop fans anew with new covers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>https:\/\/twitter.com\/BenAndBenMusic\/status\/1301061660824592385<\/p>\n<p>Fans of K-pop boy groups Seventeen, The Boyz, GOT7, EXO, and BTS, as well as singer and actress IU, rejoiced on Wednesday, September 2, as Filipino folk-pop band Ben&amp;Ben released a new episode of their weekly online series where they covered songs of these popular artists.<\/p>\n<p>On the latest episode of their BBTV series, Ben&amp;Ben did not only feature more K-pop songs, but also the amazing vocals of the other band members.<\/p>\n<p>Starting off the part two of their K-pop Covers Challenge, Miguel Guico, the band&#8217;s vocalist and guitarist, sang Sevententeen&#8217;s &#8220;Home,&#8221; followed by violinist Keifer Cabugao on GOT7&#8217;s &#8220;Not By The Moon,&#8221; percussionist Toni Mu\u00f1oz on EXO&#8217;s &#8220;Baby Don&#8217;t Cry,&#8221; vocalist and guitarist Paolo Guico on The Boyz&#8217;s &#8220;Reveal,&#8221; percussionist Andrew de Pano on &#8220;Eight&#8221; by IU featuring Suga of BTS, and lastly, Paolo on BTS&#8217;s &#8220;Dynamite.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>Sa mga napakinggan namin,<\/em> I mean<em> lahat sila magaganda, pero ito &#8216;yung ilan sa mga<\/em> feeling<em> namin na<\/em> we will, hopefully, we&#8217;ll be able to give justice (Of all the songs that we have listened to, I mean they are all good, but these are among those we feel that we will, hopefully, we&#8217;ll be able to give justice),&#8221; Paolo said.<\/p>\n<p>Miguel commended his bandmates on a Tweet, tagging Toni, Keifer, and Andrew to say that he&#8217;s &#8220;immensely proud&#8221; of them. Andrew quote retweeted this and said, &#8220;<em>Teka ba&#8217;t ako kinikilig<\/em> (Wait, why am I feeling giddy)[?]&#8221; Netizens also praised the nine-member band for their performance.<\/p>\n<p>Ben&amp;Ben uploaded their first K-pop song covers on their first BBTV episode in August. They covered boy group NCT Dream&#8217;s &#8220;Beautiful Time,&#8221; rock band Day6&#8217;s &#8220;You Were Beautiful,&#8221; and girl groups Red Velvet&#8217;s &#8220;Bad Boy&#8221; and Twice&#8217;s &#8220;Feel Special.&#8221; This is currently the most-watched BBTV episode with more than 800,000 views.<\/p>\n<p>The series has, so far, five episodes, wherein aside from singing K-pop songs, they also did covers of original Pinoy music sang in different genres, tried acting by re-creating scenes from their favorite Filipino movies, and performed Philippine folk dances for their &#8220;Buwan ng Wika&#8221; special.<\/p>\n<p>Ben&amp;Ben launched the BBTV series as a thank you gift to their supporters after they reached one million subscribers on YouTube.
